Another Letter to my Hometown
by krstaten
Stay
just as you are for me–
tucked away
in the middle of lonely,
drowning in sky.
You were always too small for me.
I’d like to think
I’ve only grown.
I couldn’t wait to leave
and I did–but you,
stay.
I can still try you on,
squeeze into you
like an old pair of jeans
that makes me feel young.
Can still taste your stars,
drink in your quiet,
a flight of flavors of nowhere,
before I go home
to a home that is no longer
you.
Aww hometown. Love them. xoxo
But then one day we return and the people look different. Still we love hometowns. xoxo

Change is inevitable, haha. I hated my hometown when I was living there, but I still like to stop by here and there. I could n
ever live there again, but there are a lot of memories and a certain feeling I miss about the place.

Ahhh! I feel this so. I have one just like it, except I can’t squeeze into it any longer.

I could never live in my hometown again. It was at once suffocating for its lack of room to grow, and freeing for its complete open middle-of-nowhere vibe. But the former made it hell for teenage me to have to live in. Still, going back for a visit to enjoy fresher air than I get where I live now, and see way more stars, is still nice sometimes.

I cannot forget your poem. I thought of it when posting photos of my childhood doors today, and returned there in my poem. That squeezing into…
