NaPoWriMo #22

by krstaten

Waves crashing against the rocks
at the side of a lake, like
ocean water breaking on the shore
line. Sunset laughing in the face
of the horizon. Everything sparkling
like wine or new glass. A dead fish
floats across the surface.
Later:
A creek in the darkening woods,
a snake sliding through grass,
through ravine, alongside paths
of beaten down straw. Water bubbling,
then laughing, then mumbling,
then gurgling like the drowned.
Sunset whispering between
newly budding tree branches.
