NaPoWriMo #14

by krstaten

& it’s not that I’m not a whole person;
it’s just that you are like a band-aid
covering the whole of my body
and to rip myself away from you
would be to tear off chunks of me
and I am not ready to be so raw.
& the consolation lies in remembering
how much of me you have kept together,
how much of my blood would have spilled
into the soil without you.

It occurs to me that NaPoWriMo has helped me be very lazy in titling things.
